KIWANO

A promising exotic crop

Originating in Central Africa and belonging to the cucurbit family, the Kiwano, or "horned melon", is increasingly making its way onto European shelves. Very popular in New Zealand, this exotic fruit is distinguished by its ripe orange skin and green flesh, with flavours of lime, kiwi, banana and cucumber. Cultivation reveals yellow flowers transformed into green fruit, turning orange when ripe. An opportunity to diversify your market garden offerings!
